The Last Easy Day
In the toughest military special operations training, the instructors will highlight the most grueling parts of each day with: "Today's the last easy day!". Usually they're telling the truth.
For the donks, Today will be the last easy day for a long time.
Today the GOP will bring a new tone to Washington DC. That new tone you'll hear will be the sound of people rolling up their sleeves to try to fix some things. I'm not a big fan of some of the Bush agenda, But we've all known for a long time that Social Security needs fixed.
The new tone will be heard in five senate offices. The tone used to be obstructionism and whining. - Not anymore.
The new tone will also be heard in 4 house offices.
Many pundits have addressed the issue of what the Donks must do to regain relevance. It's a litany. I'm being kind today. I'll leave it alone.
Be kind to a Lib today. Mostly they won't reciprocate but let it pass. They're having a bad decade. Like a novice chess player, they can't even begin to understand the depth of thought that has swept them from the board. Self-assured, ivy-league intellectual superiority going down in flames before the backwoods GOP nit-wits. It must be hard to be second-best to an adversary you hold in utter contempt. Be gentle with them.
