The Brutality of Reason Example

By Ironcross One-One

Slicing and dicing things into pieces small enough

If you are the emotional liberal type, this mindspace will make you uncomfortable. If you think my logic or facts are faulty, lets discuss it. When your findings disagree with my findings, that is dialogue. But using rhetoric to disagree with science is demogoguery. No demogoguery! I usually refrain from insults, but occasionally, ignorance and liberal hypocrisy bring out the worst in me.

Perpetuating Dominance

Picking up on this thread, it would be a really good idea for the US Congress to authorize a really big prize for each significant leap in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. Think of the impact if we were able to license everyone in the world clean energy at a quarter of the price of oil. What if a brilliantly designed house provided it's own energy half of the time?

In the industrial age, energy was cheap but manufacturing was labor intensive and expensive. Now it's reversed, What if we put ourselves to work building devices that are difficult to manufacture but unimaginably energy-smart. Things that represent the magnitude of leap we've made with micro-processors. What if we put ourselves another ten years out in front of everyone else?

We can change the value of oil two ways, increase the supply or reduce the demand. Increasing the supply doesn't seem easy or smart. But if we can change the value of oil, we can change the power and influence of those that control it.

And by owning the alternative, we continue to swing the biggest bat on the third ball from the sun.

The best way to predict the future is to create it. - Peter Drucker
