No Victory Party Yet

Watch what’s going on in Lebanon, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, but don’t start the band playing just yet. In those places, the flame of liberty is sparked, but it’s a long way from being a wildfire. There are powerful desperate men that will kill and maim to keep power. The transition to democracy will cause instability. Lots of instability. Deadly instability. Murderous instability. Inhumane instability. Get your mind right.
This isn’t abnormal. This is the process used to take power from people that don’t believe that power is derived from the consent of the governed. If they are willing to use violence to keep power, then the people must be willing to use violence to take their power back. Violence is coming. I don’t know where it will break out first, but it’s coming. Get your mind right.
In his second inaugural address, the President promised the oppressed peoples of the world that if they would stand for freedom, we would stand with them. There’s a reason to do this, but it isn’t going to be easy. This will be the last stand of militant Islam. Like the generation of 60 years ago, we can assure our place in history if we make sure that our victory is total and unmistakeable. Get your mind right.
