With an absolute lack of enmity for the Democrats, I suggest the following course of action for Republican leaders on the 3rd of November. Publish a manifesto such as this:

Today, unemployment begins to drop. Not because government is going to hire more people, but because government is going to get smaller. This message is for stockholders and business owners; managers and executives; and business group leaders. If you have been avoiding hiring and fearfully conserving your capital, we understand! It was the right thing to do. You are where you are because you understand how business works. But we, the New Republican leadership also understand how business works and we are going to get government out of your way. We are going to fight the big government forces with everything we've got. We are going to repeal, defund, delay or replace Obama care. Cap and Trade is dead as of now. Frank-Dodd will be de-socialised to eliminate the labyrinth of new impediments to business.

Now is the time to hire workers. Your taxes are going to go down and so is the deficit. Your dollar is going to be more stable and energy prices will be coming down too as we eliminate the barriers to production.

Thank you for your patience while the Liberals showed the world what happens when government goes on offense against business. We're going to get government out of your way and let American Exceptionalism be all it can be.

Then they need to keep their word.
